Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

Course overview

Our one day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course covers all the subjects required by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to make this an approved course. However, if you have particular risks in your workplace please let us know in advance of the course so that we can tailor your time with us to include training in those area. 

This course provides basic life saving first aid skills and knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations, covering:

  • Adult resuscitation (CPR)
  • Burns and scalds
  • Choking adult
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Defibrillator (AED) prompts and pad placement
  • Minor and severe bleeding
  • Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Unresponsive adult
Catastrophic bleeding can be added as an optional module for workplaces that require it following your first aid needs assessment

Who is this course for?

This course would be ideal for:

  • All workplace first aiders in smaller or lower risk environments
  • Anyone wanting an in-depth understanding of emergency first aid 
  • Anyone looking for a good introduction to first aid

If you work in a larger or higher risk environment, we also offer the full 3 day First Aid at Work course. 

Timings

Our First Aid at Work course is 8 hours, excluding breaks, over one day. This is a HSE requirement for this course. 

Courses usually assemble ready to begin at 9am and finish each day at 5pm with breaks throughout the day. Students must attend the whole course to be able to receive their certificate. 

Certificates

When you successfully complete a course you will be sent a secure PDF certificate to print and proudly display in your workplace. 

We can also provide full colour, hard copy certificates with industry-leading security features or credit card style plastic certificates on request. Additional charges apply, please contact us for more details.  

Certificates are valid for three years. After this you must attend the full course again to requalify. Annual refresher training is strongly recommended.
