BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) AND AED

About the course

This half day course covers the fundamentals of Basic Life Support (BLS) and safe use of an Automated External Defibillator (AED) and does not require any prior training. 

Basic Life Support is the management of an unresponsive casualty using the following techniques: 
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Head tilt, chin lift
  • Recovery position
  • Monitoring of ABCs

This course does not cover the use of airway adjuncts or other advanced airway management techniques. If you require this level of training (ILS/ALS) please contact us.

This course is for first aiders in need of an update on their BLS and AED competencies or others who would like to know how to manage an unresponsive casualty.

Our BLS course is a half day training course. Courses usually assemble ready to begin at 9am and finish around 12.30pm with a break mid morning. Students must attend the whole course to be able to receive their certificate. 

On successful completion of the course, students are awarded a First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for three years. Annual refresher training is highly recommended.
