Course overview

Our half day (4 hour) safeguarding awareness course covers the syllabus set down by Skills for Health and meets the requirements of Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children at Level 1 of the Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF)

The course covers the following topics:

  • What is safeguarding?
  • Safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and policies
  • Recognising signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Responding well to concerns
  • Recording concerns
  • Referring concerns appropriately
  • Barriers to responding effectively to concerns
  • Self care and worker mental health
This course includes case studies and examples that are tailored to your workforce and environment.

Who is this course for?

This course is for any paid or voluntary staff that require an introduction to safeguarding. Typically level 1 training is for those that work around children or adults at risk, but not directly with them, for example cleaning, reception or administrative staff.

Staff working directly with children or adults at risk are more likely to need level 2 training and those with a particular responsibility for managing concerns (usually called a safeguarding lead or DSL) will require our level 3 training
