Paediatric first aid
Course overview
Our two day Paediatric First Aid course covers all the subjects required by the EYFS (including Ofsted) and the Department for Education to make this an approved course for professionals working with children and infants. If you work with children with particular medical conditions in your workplace please let us know in advance of the course so that we can tailor your time with us to include training in those area.
The course aims to ensure that all learners can manage an emergency situation, prioritise what action to take and help a baby or child who is:
- Unresponsive and breathing normally (recovery position)
- Unresponsive and not breathing normally (CPR)
- Having a seizure
- Choking
- Bleeding and suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock)
- Suffering from an anaphylactic shock
- Suffering from burns or scalds
- Suffering from a suspected fracture, head, neck or back injury
- Suspected of being poisoned
- Suffering from the effects of extreme heat or cold
- Having a diabetic emergency, asthma attack, allergic reaction, meningitis or febrile convulsions.
The course also covers a range of minor injuries such as foreign objects, eye injuries, bites, stings and other common childhood injuries.
Who is this course for?
This course meets the requirements of the EYFS/Ofsted/DfE and would be ideal for:
- Early Years Practitioners such as nursery and pre-school staff
- Registered childminders and nannies
- School first aiders
- Anyone wanting an in-depth understanding of emergency first aid and medical conditions in children and infants
For those who do not need an approved course (parents, family members and school / pre-school support staff), we also offer a 1 day Paediatric Emergency First Aid course.
Timings
Our First Aid at Work course is 12 hours, excluding breaks, over a minimum of two days.
Courses usually assemble ready to begin at 9am and finish each day at 5pm with breaks throughout the day. Students must attend the whole course to be able to receive their certificate.
Certificates
When you successfully complete a course you will be sent a secure e-certificate to print and proudly display in your workplace or use on your social media profile.
We can also provide full colour, hard copy certificates with industry-leading security features or credit card style plastic certificates on request. Additional charges apply, please contact us for more details.
Certificates are valid for three years. After this you must attend the full course again to requalify. Annual refresher training is strongly recommended.

- Who is this course for?
This course meets the requirements of the EYFS/Ofsted and would be ideal for:

For those working with children and infants who do not require a course that meets EYFS/Ofsted requirements, we also offer a 1 day Paediatric Emergency First Aid course.

Courses usually assemble ready to begin at 9am and finish each day at 5pm with breaks throughout the day. Students must attend the whole course to be able to receive their certificate.
- Certificate
On successful completion of the course, students are awarded a Paediatric First Aid certificate which is valid for three years. Annual refresher training is highly recommended.
We offer optional wallet card certificates for this course. Additional charges may apply.

The cost of this course is £119.99 per person or £1199.00 for a group of up to twelve in your workplace. In addition to the trainer and teaching materials, the course price includes:
