Safeguarding for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)

Course overview

This one day course has been written for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) who manage safeguarding in their setting.

The course meets the requirements of:

  • Level 3 Safeguarding on the Core Skills Training Framework
  • EFYS Early Years
  • Ofsted
  • Health intercollegiate document

The course covers the following topics: 

  • Adult resuscitation (CPR)
  • Allergic reaction
  • Asthma
  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Chest pains
  • Choking adult
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Eye injuries
  • Fainting
  • Head injuries

Who is this course for?

This course is for professionals working as, or soon to be working as DSLs in their setting. 

Before attending this course, all learners must have a solid understanding of safeguarding, equivalent to at least level 2 on the Core Skill Training Framework. If you need this training, we offer both a child and adult at risk version of this course. 

Those attending this course must also be prepared to commit to completing some pre-course learning, which will be assessed during the course.

Timings

This course is 8 hours, usually delivered over one full day. The pre-course learning will be sent out at least one week before the course start date and will take approximately 3 hours to complete. 

Courses usually assemble ready to begin at 9am and finish at 5pm with breaks throughout the day. Students must attend the whole course to be able to receive their certificate. 

Certificates

When you successfully complete a course you will be sent a secure PDF certificate to print and proudly display in your workplace. 

We can also provide full colour, hard copy certificates with industry-leading security features or credit card style plastic certificates on request. Additional charges apply, please contact us for more details.  

Certificates are valid for three years. After this you must attend the full course again to requalify. Ongoing CPD training is strongly recommended.
